Come See Industry Leaders Share Their Secrets to Success at Science in the Age of Experience
The following is a guest post by Sean McGee, Solution Marketing Manager, BIOVIA.
This year at Science in the Age of Experience, we at BIOVIA are very fortunate to have a very strong lineup of customer presentations to highlight the deeper functionalities of the BIOVIA solution portfolio. We believe that these presentations by customers, for customers, can provide some real-world insight into unique use cases which could be the source of transformative value at your organization. Be sure to visit some of the presentations listed below:
Pharmaceutical Quality Control– Integrating Lab Systems to Gain Efficiency at Analytical Operations and QC Labs – Sachin Sontakke, Gilead
In this presentation within the Unified Quality Control Lab track, Sachin Sontakke, Senior Manager of Lab Information Systems at Gilead, will lay out the values provided by integrating laboratory information management systems in pharmaceutical R&D. However, in his view simply integrating systems for integration’s sake is not enough. To truly actualize this potential, he provides a plan in which scientists are an integral part of the planning process, guiding the IT implementation of these integration initiatives. This talk will provide a case study of implementing lab solutions (ELN, LES, IM and LIMS), highlight user feedback and provide a framework for planning integration between these systems.
Pharmaceutical Discovery – Lead Optimization through Rapid Estimation of Relative Binding Affinities: Multiple Gene Family Evaluation – Sirish Kaushik Lakkaraju, Pfizer
As a part of his work at Pfizer, Sirish Kaushik Lakkaraju, Ph. D., helped shape the development of two high volume virtual screening techniques, Site Identification by Ligand Competitive Saturation (SILCS) and Single-Step Free Energy Perturbation (SSFEP). These two methodologies have the capability to screen thousands of potential ligands on a daily basis, helping narrow the field of potential candidates and identifying the most promising for further study. In this presentation, Dr. Lakkaraju will provide an overview of their methodology along with a collection of summarized results for various gene families.
Chemicals R&D – Understanding Molecular Sieve Structures by Combining Experimental and Simulated Molecular Spectra – Istvan Halasz, PQ Corp
Istvan Halasz, Ph. D., Principal Chemist at PQ Corp., will be presenting on the value of molecular modeling in catalysis research. Molecular sieves play a critical part in regulating catalysis due to their strikingly uniform porosity, often on the order of angstroms. However, occasionally small variances in their structure can lead to unforeseen phenomena, which can have significant impacts on the yields of potential reactions. To attempt understanding these phenomena to leverage or avoid their effects utilizing molecular modeling applications, Dr. Halasz will be providing working examples for common industrial catalysts.
Quality Compliance and Manufacturing – Leveraging DocCompliance to Automate Qualification of Private Cloud – Kenneth Kringdon, Johnson & Johnson
Today’s regulatory environment seems to have led to growing amounts of work for quality management teams. However, Kenneth Kringdon, Manager of Document Management at J&J, has developed unique workflows within QUMAS DocCompliance to reduce physical documentation and automate many manual steps in their virtual infrastructure qualification workflow. In this presentation, Mr. Kringdon will explore the uses of DocCompliance, DocTransfer and custom-built apps on the DocCompliance API.
