Extending BIOVIA Lab Informatics applications using Pipeline Pilot

Overview: With BIOVIA Lab Informatics you can record, organize and secure experimental information to find, share and reuse critical knowledge globally. Using Pipeline Pilot can greatly increase the functionality of BIOVIA Lab Informatics applications

Target Audience: Protocol developers with Pipeline Pilot experience or that completed the Building Pipeline Pilot Protocols class

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Integrate Pipeline Pilot into BIOVIA Lab Informatics Applications
  • Allow template builders to extend the functionality of the BIOVIA Lab Informatics Applications with protocols built using all the collections available in Pipeline Pilot

Introduction to Materials Screening with the Materials Studio Collection

Overview: This workshop covers an introduction to how you can automate your calculations to be more efficient and to be able to obtain properties that is not accessible by a single calculation. This workshop will demonstrate how the calculations in Materials Studio may be integrated with Pipeline Pilot via the Materials Studio Collection.

Target Audience: Physicists, Chemists, and Materials Scientists with molecular modeling experience

Building Pipeline Pilot Protocols for New Users (part 1)

Overview: Using Pipeline Pilot, scientist, researchers, engineers, and analysts with little or no software development experience can create scientific protocols that can be executed through a variety of interfaces including other BIOVIA solutions and third-party applications.

Target Audience: Protocol developers who are new to Pipeline Pilot, or need a refresher

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Build protocols to read data from file and write data to files
  • Manipulate and filter data
  • Create sub-protocols

Analytics and Machine Learning with Pipeline Pilot (Part 1)

Overview: Data can be easily generated, but not as easily understood or transformed into knowledge and designing the right experiments that can reduce wasted time and efforts. Pipeline Pilot’s data pipelining architecture and numerous relevant components make it a productive environment for analytics, data science, and machine learning. The first part of this workshop will cover introductory topics associated with Pipeline Pilot analytics and machine modeling. This is NOT a statistics course. Attendees are led through the process of cleaning and manipulating their data to understand it before begin to build basic predictive models.

Target Audience: Scientists or analysts with Pipeline Pilot experience.

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Clean your data sets
  • Characterize the variables in a data set and understand their relationships
  • Use your data to build and validate predictive models
  • Optimize predictive models
  • Validate models
  • Understand what a model can and cannot do (model applicability domain and prediction errors)
  • Design new experiments from models

What’s new in BIOVIA Lab Services 2018

Overview: The capabilities of BIOVIA Lab Services to centrally manage Lab Operations across the enterprise are introduced in this course. Working within the context of BIOVIA ONE Lab, Administrators/Users/Lab Managers will learn how BIOVIA Lab Services facilitate the management of samples, tasks and specifications and creation and execution of methods. Looking at how information such as equipment, locations, and units are stored and how such information is retrieved for reporting will also be covered.

Target Audience: Users who have previously been exposed to BIOVIA ONE Lab and would like to understand the new capabilities of the 2018 release

Designing Polymers in-silico

Overview: This workshop provides an overview of how you can design and investigate a variety of properties of polymers through simulations. It will start by demonstrating the tools to generate atomistic models of polymer systems. It continues with the methods and workflows to perform calculations and analysing the results. This workshop will cover Materials Studio in combination with Pipeline Pilot with particular focus on the polymer modelling protocols in the Materials Studio Collection.

Materials Modelling for Additive Manufacturing

Overview: This workshop will give a response to the quote from John Maddox "One of the continuing scandals in the physical sciences is that it remains impossible to predict the structure of even the simplest crystalline solids from their chemical composition.” (Nature 335, 201 (1988)). It gives you a deep dive into how to develop new material formulations for hard materials, such as metal alloys and predict its properties. The workshop will demonstrate methods to generate and determine the most stable alloy configurations. The mechanical and thermal properties of these configurations can then be characterized to find suitable candidates for additive manufacturing. The workshop will introduce you to a set of protocols that link Materials Studio and Pipeline Pilot via the Materials Studio Collection to calculate properties relevant for additive manufacturing.

Target Audience: Physicists, Chemists, and Materials Scientists working with materials development and a particular interest in additive manufacturing

How to extend BIOVIA Discoverant reporting and analytics
using BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot

Overview: With BIOVIA Discoverant you can aggregate and contextualize all your process and quality data for monitoring and investigational purposes. Sometimes, when you need specific reports we didn’t think of, or when you want to apply the most advanced machine learning techniques, you can always extend BIOVIA Discoverant using BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot.

Target Audience: BIOVIA community users either familiar with BIOVIA Discoverant or BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot.

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Make use and get inspired by the existing Discoverant collection for BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot
  • Go further with the many different integration points offered by BIOVIA Discoverant
  • Create template based reports (towards CPV or APQR reports)

BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot Dashboard Collection

Overview: The BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot 2017 R2 release includes the new Dashboard Collection which allows users to easily build modern responsive web reports and dashboards. The collection is optimized for mobile/tablet and includes a variety of interactive chart types, maps, tables, grids and lists as well as simple layout and style components for dashboard customization. It is not intended to replace the basic reporting collection.

Target Audience: Protocol developers with Pipeline Pilot experience or that completed the Building Pipeline Pilot Protocols class. Some of the material will also require some familiarity with HTML5 technologies such as CSS.

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Display quantitative information in HTML5 Dashboards
  • Choose among Tables and Data Grids for your use case
  • Apply simple and effective responsive themes and layout
  • Support user interactivity with charts, tables and other elements

Pipeline Pilot for Developers

Overview: This is a deeper dive into more advanced Pipeline Pilot topics. There are many sophisticated features such like application packaging, regression testing that protocol developers can use to implement best practices. Another aspect is the control on accessing data sources. Since Pipeline Pilot2018 version, “Tagged Resource” concept has been introduced and we propose to deep-dive into these very important new features for developers and administrators.

Target Audience: Experienced protocol developer
